The Event Recorder System developed by Brigger & Associates is software that monitors the changes in values of PLC digital conditions in a PLC program - which we call Events. Events are logged to a Windows PC database from which they can be displayed.
Digital conditions can be:
◼ Digital Inputs. | ◼ Digital Outputs. |
◼ Alarms. | ◼ Operator issued commands. |
◼ Any internal digital condition. |
A unique feature of the Event Recorder is that it monitors the values of digital conditions on every PLC scan. So no changes are missed, not even transitional ones.
In addition, multiple PLC's can be monitored at the same time.
The logged Events are displayed in a spreadsheet format.
For each Event the following is displayed:
◼ Date and time the Event occurred.
◼ Event number.
◼ Status of the Event - from OFF to On or ON to OFF.
◼ Description of the Event.
◼ Monitored digital address.
The display of Events has the following features:
◼ The operator specifies date and time period for the Events to be displayed.
◼ All the Events in that time period can be displayed or just specific Events.
◼ Events can be organized into groups so only the Events of a selected group
are displayed for the time period.
◼ A displayed Event can be selected by clicking on it. Then other occurrences can be
searched for in the period.
◼ A particular Event occurring during the time period can be searched for.
◼ Colors can be assigned to a particular Event or group of Events to make it easier to see them.
◼ The total occurrences of specific Events can be displayed..

The Event Recorder consists of the following applications:
◼ Event Collector - PLC logic that captures Events and temporarily stores them.
◼ Event Logger - Windows PC program that reads the stored Events in the PLC and saves them
to a database.
◼ Event Viewer - Windows PC program that displays the Events.
The manuals for these applications can be viewed using the above navigation links.
The Event Recorder is ideal for:
◼ Troubleshooting a PLC controlled System.
◼ Debugging a PLC program.
◼ Optimizing the PLC control performance.
◼ The cost of the system is $2,500 plus any required taxes. It is delivered on a USB flash drive with everything necessary to install the programs, including installation and user’s manuals.
◼ Note that the Event Logger requires a "Driver" for communicating with the PLC's. The Driver for Allen-Bradley PLC's is their RSLinx Classic OEM software. The Driver for other PLC's, or a mix of Allen-Bradley and other PLC's, is PTC's KEPServer software. The cost of the Driver is NOT included in the above cost. It must be purchased separately. We can assist you in that purchase, at no extra cost.
◼ For an additional cost, we can provide and install a complete system or provide assistance with the installation and configuration. Contact us to request a proposal for these services. (Phone assistance is free.)
